Dome Policies
By Booking you agree to the following.
Some basic house rules to follow to ensure we keep Nalu Retreat a space that is enjoyable for all.
Please treat your stay at Nalu Retreat as though you are at the spa to heal. Please use ‘spa voices’ on the property.
Noise:
Nalu Retreat is a luxury healing retreat nestled in a natural setting. As such, we would like to keep the peaceful spa-like atmosphere on our property, so that everyone can enjoy the sounds of nature. Noise travels very easily between the fabric wall of the domes, so please be mindful of other guests who are here for silence or receiving healing treatments / sessions. We invite you to use spa voices at all times on Nalu Retreat Premises. White noise and nature sound machines have been provided in the domes to help you adjust to the silence.
* No loud outside speakers please. Other guests may not want to listen to music and may be disruptive.
*No ATVing on property. An ATV trail is 3 mins down the road.
*Security cameras and noise decibel meter installed on property*
Guests:
ONLY NALU REGISTERED GUESTS ARE PERMITTED ON THE PREMISES to maintain the peace, privacy and tranquility of this healing place. At Nalu Retreat there is a two adult maximum per Dome capacity.
Child Policy:
Nalu Retreat is an Adult Only accommodation. Please take this opportunity, at Nalu Retreat, to focus on your healing, free from any distractions and outside worries.
Smoking:
Nalu Retreat is a non-smoking / non-Vaping property. Tobacco / Narcotic products, in any form, are strictly prohibited in the dome or anywhere on Nalu Retreat property. There will be a substantial cleaning charge billed to guests who violate this policy due to the fabric walls of the dome and the absorbency of such odours. Please be mindful that some guests may be on a journey to stop smoking and any scent of cigarettes can be a trigger.
Alcohol:
Due to the healing nature of Nalu Retreat, please keep alcohol consumption to a minimum so we can stay present and mindful of those here enjoying the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of this retreat.
Cooking & Odours:
Please keep in mind that the walls of a geodesic dome are fabric and hold odours. If possible, please avoid cooking any foods with a strong odour indoors. You may prepare your meal outside on the bbq to ensure that the domes do not absorb the scent for the next guest. Examples of strong odour-causing foods and spices are: Fish, curry, incense etc
Pets:
We to love our furry family members however at this time, Nalu Retreat does not allow pets. In order to maintain the spa-like environment of Nalu Retreat, the domes will be kept to a 2-human minimum occupancy.
Wildlife: We are grateful and honoured to be in such a sacred part of the Nova Scotia Wilderness and have built this retreat with the goal of being part of this magical ecosystem. Please refrain from hunting, trapping, cutting trees, littering or disturbing the environment and wildlife in any way.
Bugs: We have taken some steps to significantly reduce mosquitoes and black flies however they are a natural and healthy part of our ecosystem. We have provided some natural local bug and tick spray that you can purchase in the guest store online.
IMPORTANT: Bug spray, sunblock sprays and cleaners can significantly and irreversibly damage the Dome Windows. Please spray off of the deck and far from the dome.
Stargazing Loft: The loft is accessed by a ladder. Please use at your own comfort level and risk.
Hot Tub Policy:
In order to provide a safe and clean environment for all guests, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines when using the hot tubs on the property.
1. SHOWER Before Entering: For hygiene purposes, it is MANDATORY, and greatly appreciated, that all guests shower before entering the hot tub. This will help to keep the water clean and free from any impurities. Deodorant, perfumes, soaps, sunscreens and bug spray contaminants the water, making it unusable for all current and future guests.
2. Leave the Hot Tub in the Same Condition: Please ensure that the hot tub is left in the same condition as you found it. This will ensure that the next guests are able to use the hot tub in a clean and safe manner. Any damages or debris left in the hot tub may result in a charge of $200.
3. NO GLASS
Allowed: For safety reasons, glass objects are not allowed in the hot tubs.
4. Time Limits: It is recommended, by some health experts that you should limit your time in the hot tubs to 20 minutes. If you are pregnant or have high blood pressure you should consult with your doctor before using a hot tub.
By following these guidelines, we hope to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests using the hot tubs on the property.
Accessible units:
At this time, Nalu Retreat is unable to pass the requirements to make these units accessible due to the rugged terrain. We are working hard on making this an inclusive retreat and hope to have a fully accessible unit in the future.
Inclement Weather Policy:
Our retreat is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our guests. However, during inclement weather, such as snow storms, certain hazards may occur on the property. In light of this, we ask that all guests take the necessary precautions and exercise EXTREME CAUTION while on the property.
Tips to keeping your dome cool in the summer:
• Call skylight during the day if it’s really sunny
• Closing the curtains during the day, will help to cool down the dorm as well
• Please make sure to close the front door if the air conditioning is on. It will cause unnecessary condensation.
• Turn on the solar fan in the kitchen. You may see the solar fan turning but it will run more efficiently with the switch on.
• There are also two fans, one near the fireplace and one in the loft that you can use to help cool down the air.
• You can turn on the “Jet” mode on the a/c by pressing this button on the remote.
Snow Removal:
Our team works diligently to clear sidewalks, driveways, and common areas of snow and ice, but please be aware that despite our best efforts, some slippery spots may still exist. We recommend that guests take necessary precautions, such as being mindful and cautious while walking, use support railings when possible, avoid running and wearing appropriate footwear with good traction, while walking around the property, especially on snow and ice.
Liability:
By choosing to visit our retreat during inclement weather, guests assume any and all risks associated with such conditions, including the risk of slipping and falling on snow and ice. The retreat shall not be liable for any accidents, injuries, or other damages that may occur as a result of inclement weather. Guests are responsible for their own safety and should take appropriate precautions to ensure their own safety while on the property.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our guests.
Cancellations:
Nalu Retreat being new and niche accommodation, cancellations have a significant impact on us. Therefore, the following applies to cancellations initiated by a guest for any reason:
Should you need to cancel your reservation with Nalu Retreat and do so within 14 or more days prior to check in date, you will be refunded your full deposit minus 6% processing fee.
6% Processing fee is non refundable
In the very unlikely event that Nalu Retreat is forced to cancel a reservation, guests will be offered their choice of a full refund or reservation change. Cancelling a reservation is not an action that we would ever take lightly, and would be an absolute last resort in extreme circumstances such as a natural disaster, severe weather etc.
